Raster Graphics / Bitmap

Friday, May 15, 2020
Raster images are made with pixels which looks like squares.

Each pixel is assigned a specific color value and locations.

Raster graphics are generally longer files than vector files.

Images lose quality if enlarged more than 20% of the original size.

Raster images are the best choice for creating subtle graduations of shades and color. such as in a photography.

A pixel is the smallest display element that makes up the images seen on televisions and computer monitors.

A raster image is resolution dependent because it contains a fixed number of pixels. a raster image will lose quality if enlarged beyond that number of pixels as the computer will have to "make up" the missing information.
